China’s Ministry of Transport recently announced that ports in the nation processed a total of 18.467 million TEUs of containers in June, which increased 3.6% from the corresponding month of 2015. In breakdown, coastal ports were responsible for 16.531 million TEUs, which improved 3.9%, and inland river ports, 1.934 million TEUs, which rose a minute 0.8%.
In the first half (January-June), as a consequence, the total throughput reached 105.326 million TEUs, which hiked 2.5% from a year earlier. Coastal ports handled 94.272 million TEUs, which climbed 2.4%, while 11.054 million TEUs were moved to and from inland river ports, which went up 3.9%.
Last month, Shanghai, the largest container ports in China, processed 3.14 million TEUs, which inflated 2.2% year on year from 3.08 million TEUs. In the first six months, on the other hand, it only handled 17.89 million TEUs, which fell a slight 0.7% from 18.02 million TEUs.
