Container terminals in Myanmar’s gateway port of Yangon have been facing severe congestion due to berthing delays vessels and reduced productivity. After the Water Festival holidays from April 11 to 20, container flows had slightly improved but vessels are facing still longer berth waiting time due to the increasing number of container ships.

Some of the container shipping lines have been implementing a port congestion surcharge of $50 per TEU and $10 per FEU, collectible at Yangon Port.
