Container movement between South Korea and China decreased 0.64% year on year to 634,645 TEUs in the first quarter (January-March) of this year, adversely influenced by the slowdown in the Chinese economy, according to the Yellow Sea Liners Committee (YLSC). In breakdown, local cargo increased 0.94% to 592,416 TEUs, but feeder cargo plunged 18.55% to 42,229 TEUs.

Containers from South Korea to China declined in both local and feeder services, which went down 6.69% to 241,106 TEUs and down 15.78% to 18,151 TEUs, respectively. Meanwhile, local containers from China to South Korea improved 6.93% to 351,310 TEUs, but feeder containers on the route sank 20.53% to 24,078 TEUs.
