Container exports from Japan to China shrank 2% year on year to 966,649 tons in December 2015, according to a report unveiled by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). On a Japanese yen scale, they fell 5% to \642.3 billion.

Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan decreased 5.1% to 1,755,096 tons, while on a value basis, they diminished 5.7% to \1.156 trillion.

The JMC report, which had been compiled from trade statistics released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), revealed that in 2015, containers from Japan to China waned 2.4% in terms of volume and 1.7% in terms of value. Those from Japan to China decreased 6.4% quantitatively, but improved 1.9% on a yen scale.
