Combined volume of containerized shipments moved by major shipping lines in November 2015 among 13 countries and regions in Asia increased 0.3% to 1.26 million TEUs. The throughput grew very minutely from a year earlier but enjoyed a year-on-year improvement for the fifth consecutive month.

Exports from Japan to the 12 remaining economies plunged 10.9% to 133,000 TEUs, incurring a year-on-year decline for two back-to-back months. In contrast, imports expanded 4.1% to 197,000 TEUs, growing from a year earlier for five months in a row.

In the first 11 months (January-November), accumulated container throughput on the intra-Asia trade was 13.532 million TEUs, which rose 2.8% from the corresponding months of 2014. Containers from Japan went down 2.3% to 1.592 million TEUs, while those to Japan increased 0.5% to 2.054 million TEUs.
