With immediate effect Sri Lankan Customs enforced the requirement that all import cargo destined to or transshipped at Sri Lanka (Colombo) must be declared to their customs system. FROB (Freight Remaining On Board) cargo is excluded, according to Hapag-Lloyd.

Carriers must declare cargo data 72 hours (3 working days) prior to vessel arrival. For short transits (less than 3 days transit time) customs manifest will be submitted immediately after vessel sailed from the last port prior to Colombo.

The import manifest must reflect the same information as shown on the Bill of Lading / Sea Waybill and Sri Lankan Customs / SLPA will automatically block any new submissions (including amendments) once official deadline has been reached.

Non-compliance to this requirement and import manifest changes after the deadline are subject to penalty and / or other sanctions.
