Customs authorities of South Korea and Taiwan agreed last week on a mutual recognition of their programs identifying secure operators.
The Korea Customs Service implemented a full-fledged AEO program in April 2009 while Taiwan Customs implemented its AEO program at the end of 2009, and there are approximately 300 Security and Safety AEOs.
Mutual recognition is one of the facilitations foreseen in the AEO program. Once the MRA was concluded, AEOs in one country would receive clearance benefits at the same level with AEOs in the counterpart country.
