At their 3rd Vice Foreign Ministers' on East-West Economic Corridor Development held last week in Bangkok, representatives from Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam agreed to launch a single-stop customs inspection system at border checkpoints to facilitate trade between the four countries and enhance connectivity along the East-West Economic Corridor. The move follows the implementation by Laos and Vietnam of the single-stop and single window inspection system at the Lao Bao-Dansavanh border checkpoint.
The single-stop inspection is expected to cut transit time along the 1,450km East-West Economic Corridor by two week and expedite the shipment of goods.
