A total of 1.256 million TEUs of containerized shipments were traded among 13 Asian countries and regions including Japan in November 2014, which increased a slight 1.7% compared to 1.234 million TEUs in the corresponding month of 2013.
Exports from Japan to 12 Asian economies fell 3.3% to 141,000 TEUs in November due mainly to week flow of containerized shipments to China, Indonesia and Malaysia, while imports to Japan were also in down trend, declining 5.9% year on year to 190,000 TEUs as inbound containers from China plunged 10.7% from a year earlier.
In the first 11 months, 13.166 million TEUs were handled on the intra-Asia trade in total, improving 2.2% from a year earlier. Outbound containers from Japan fell 4.6% to 1.629 million TEUs, and inbound boxes to Japan, down 1.1% to 2.043 million TEUs.
