15.01.19Intra-Asia Box Traffic Ticks up a Bit in November

A total of 1.256 million TEUs of containerized shipments were traded among 13 Asian countries and regions including Japan in November 2014, which increased a slight 1.7% compared to 1.234 million TEUs in the corresponding month of 2013.

Exports from Japan to 12 Asian economies fell 3.3% to 141,000 TEUs in November due mainly to week flow of containerized shipments to China, Indonesia and Malaysia, while imports to Japan were also in down trend, declining 5.9％ year on year to 190,000 TEUs as inbound containers from China plunged 10.7% from a year earlier.

In the first 11 months, 13.166 million TEUs were handled on the intra-Asia trade in total, improving 2.2% from a year earlier. Outbound containers from Japan fell 4.6% to 1.629 million TEUs, and inbound boxes to Japan, down 1.1% to 2.043 million TEUs.
