The U.S. West Coast ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have experienced increasing delays an serious port congestion, according to a CargoSmart newsletter issued in November which featured the port performance and schedule reliability of Los Angeles and Long Beach through an interview with its Global Vessel Voyage Center (GVVMC). The data scope covers more than 2,000 vessel arrivals from 21 carriers from April 22 to October 22.

They found that the six-month average vessel arrival delays for the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were 21.4 hours and 24.8 hours and the berth time was 59 hours and 76 hours respectively. The berth time eased from the period of August 22 to September 21 to 52.0 and to 73.8 hours respectively but increased again to reach a six-month high from mid-September to mid-October, reaching 82.6 hours and 90.3 hours.
