Trucking companies picking up containers at Cat Lai Port in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam are complaining about delays due to a new regulation on vehicle weight load.

Under the new regulation by the Ministry of Transport, Saigon New Port staff is required to monitor and control the cargo handling process to supervise whether loaded cargo on semi-trailers trucks and cargo trucks exceeds permissible gross trailer weight rating. In case of violation, delivery will be rejected and customers will be required to take proper adjustment for legitimate delivery.

Port transport operators say the checking process is taking extra time and this aggravates turnarounds of vehicles.
