China's General Administration of Customs will expand its customs integration approach to the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta regions effective October 1, 2014. This is part of the central government policy to simplify customs procedures and reduce transportation costs, thus helping promote trade and investment in the regions.

The pilot customs integration started in Beijing and Tianjin on July 1 and is to be extended to Hebei Province in October. The customs in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have build up their integrated clearance system.

The pilot integrated system will be also implemented at customs in the Yangtze River Delta and Guangdong regions. Under the new system, customs sites in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Hefei in the Yangtze River Delta and in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Gongbei, Shantou, Huangpu, Jiangmen and Zhanjiang in Guangzhou Province will share customs clearance information through an online regional center.
