Ports in China, including Yangshan Deep Water Port, posted a 5.5 percent year-on-year increase in container handling to 16.321million TEUs in March. Seaport throughput grew 6.5 percent to 14.763 million TEUs, while river ports handled 1.559 million TEUs, down 3.8 percent from the same month in 2013.

In the first three months, overall box traffic in China totaled 45.590 million TEUs, up 5.5% from the same period last year. Seaports handled 41.220 million TEUs, up 6.6 percent from a year earlier while river ports lifted 4.369 million TEUs, down 3.3 percent.
