Ports in China handled a total of 16,386,400 TEUs of containerized shipments in November 2013, which increased 7.24% from a year earlier, according to a report compiled by the nation’s Ministry of Transport. Coastal ports were responsible for 14,701,800 TEUs, which went up 8.89% year on year, and inland river ports, the balance of 1,684,600 TEUs, up 5.28%.

In the first eleven months (January-November), container throughput totaled 173,467,600 TEUs, improving 7.3%. Container movement was steady to and from both coastal and inland river ports, which grew 7.5% to 154,939,800 TEUs and 5.7% to 18,527,600 TEUs, respectively.
