A total of 1,286,000 TEUs of containerized shipments were carried on the intra-Asia trade in October 2013, growing 9.9% from a year earlier.
Exports from Japan to 11 other Asian economies surged 15.6% to 182,000 TEUs, and imports were also brisk, swelling 7.6% to 206,000 TEUs.
In the first 10 months (January-October), 12,252,000 TEUs were traded among the 12 countries and regions, increasing 4.9% year on year from 11,683,000 TEUs.
Containers from Japan went up 3.8% to 1,676,000 TEUs, and those to Japan were also steady, climbing 2.5% to 1,999,000 TEUs.
