Container movement on the intra-Asia trade (among 12 economies in the region) grew a slight 1.2% year on year from 1.235 million TEUs to 1.25 million TEUs in September 2013.

Box traffic was more robust in the first nine months, increasing 5% to 10.637 million TEUs.

During the month in question, exports from Japan fell 2.2% to 170,000 TEUs, but imports to Japan improved 2% to 212,000 TEUs.

During the period from January to September, outbound containers from Japan went up a mild 3% to 1.48 million TEUs, and inbound containers to Japan also hiked mildly, going up 2.3% to 1.768 million TEUs.
