The TSA Revenue Index for services bound for the West Coast of the U.S. and interior point intermodal (IPI) services was 86.10 points in September 2013, the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (TSA) said. The index was down by 4.58 points compared with 90.68 in the same month last year. Month on month, it represents an improvement of 2.27 points.
For services destined to the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts, the index stood at 78.68 in September, down by 0.55 points from the previous year when it was 79.24 points. Month on month, the TSA index registered a 1.32 points recovery from 77.98 for August.
The TSA Revenue Index tracks average revenue per-40 foot container from Asia to the U.S. West Coast and to the East and Gulf coasts, which includes contracted and on-the-spot freight rates as well as terminal handling charges (THCs) and other non-floating charges but does not include bunker surcharges. The numbers are benchmarked in percentage terms against the baseline month of June 2008.
