Japan International Freight Forwarders Association Inc. (JIFFA) recently joined the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).

FIATA accepted the application submitted by JIFFA during the annual world congress held in Singapore on Oct. 15-19, 2013, welcoming the Japanese forwarders’ body as a new association member.

JIFFA became the third Japanese organization to be affiliated with FIATA.

On behalf of JIFFA, Executive Director and Secretary-General Masaharu Nozawa attended the meeting.

Established in 1926 in Zurich, Switzerland, FIATA, a non-governmental organization, represents today an industry covering approximately 40,000 forwarding and logistics firms, employing around 8 - 10 million people in 150 countries.

Now that JIFFA is a regular member of FIATA, the educational programs that it provides, including the courses for qualifying international multimodal transport specialists and various seminars, are expected to become more globalized.

The information network that JIFFA boasts for the logistics research that it conducts in other nations every year is also projected to become more extensive.

Previously, JIFFA promoted international interchanges with forwarders associations and related organizations of other countries on a one-to-one basis, but these efforts are hoped to become much more effective.

JIFFA will work with such partners much more efficiently on a much larger stage, in other words, within the framework of the FIATA

These improvements are foreseen to greatly help JIFFA make its presence more globally in the future.
