Asia to Europe container traffic rose 10% year on year to 1.3 million TEUs in August, the highest monthly throughput in 2013, according to statistics by U.K.-based Container Trades Statistics (CTS).
For the first eight months, box volumes totaled 9.4 million TEUs representing a 3.2% increase from the same period last year.
Of the August CTS statistics, the Asia - Eastern Med/Black Sea trade posted the biggest year-on-year increase of 17.6%, to 216,260 TEUs, followed by the Asia - West Med/North Africa trade lane's 14.2% gain with volumes of 219,404 TEUs.
