Japan and Spain have agreed on CMAA (Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement which will effectively enhance trade security and facilitation for both sides, and thus promote bilateral trade.
Under the agreement, both parties through their Customs Authorities, assist each other under the terms set out in the agreement in order to facilitate the lawful movement of goods, to ensure proper application of the customs legislation and also to prevent, investigate and combat any customs offence. Assistance to recover customs duties or fines is not covered by this Agreement.
The CMAA will take effect in early November.
