Japan exported 988,459 tons of containerized shipments to China in July 2013, increasing 1.0% from the same month in 2012, according to a report released by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC).

In terms of value, exports from Japan to China rose 8.6% from a year earlier to Y620.8 billion, as trade between the two North Asia nations began to make a turnaround.

Meanwhile, imports from China to Japan amounted to 2,054,719 tons in July, expanding 5.0% year on year. They were valued at Y1,498 billion, soaring 21.5% from the corresponding month last year.

In the first seven months of 2013, containerized exports from Japan to China totaled 7,336,400 tons, going down 1.0% from a year earlier, and imports, 12,914,845 tons, down 4.0% on year.
