The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s think tank recently unveiled findings from an investigation research that it had conducted about small and midsize Japanese logistics service providers that have made inroads in China.

During the research project, the Policy Research Institute for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (PRILIT) analyzed how such logistics companies do business in China.

Many decided to go to China, following shippers that they did business with launched operations in that nation, according to the PRILIT.

The research institute added that in running organizations, it is important to have good local workers

In China, demand for logistics services is growing in line with the nation’s rapid economic expansion. As such, China can be an attractive market for Japanese logistics companies that boast capabilities and know-how for high-quality, high-value-added services.

However, not much information is available that Japanese logistics service providers can obtain in preparation for expanding their business operations into the Chinese market.

No research or analyses had even been conducted previously on small or midsize logistics companies doing business in China. The PRILIT conducted the survey among 64 small and midsize Japanese logistics service providers, receiving answers from 27 and held hearing sessions with 11.
