A total of 16,040,090 TEUs of containerized shipments were handled at ports in China in June 2013, up 9.4% from the same month last year, according to a report compiled by the nation’s Ministry of Transport.

Coastal ports were responsible for 14,239,300 TEUs, going up 7.9% year on year and inland river ports, 1,801,600 TEUs, up 11.2% from a year earlier.

In the first six months (January-June), 91,00 TEU466.200 TEUs were moved to and from Chinese ports, increasing 8.3% over the corresponding period in 2012.

Throughput was 81,496,200 TEUs at coastal ports, growing 7.9% on year, and 9,970,000TEUs at inland river ports, up 11.2%.
