Hundreds of cargo handling companies including cargo distribution and trucking companies which operate a total fleet of 18,000 vehicles and manages 54,000 workers, went on a strike at Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port on Monday to protest against state-run port operator PT Pelindo II's alleged attempt to monopolize container businesses in the port through its subsidiaries.
