South Korea’s Port of Busan handled 1.556 million TEUs of containerized shipments in March 2013, according to the Busan Port Authority (BPA). Growing 4.2% from a year earlier, the throughput was a new monthly record.
In the first three months (January-March), Busan processed a total of 4.22 million TEUs, increasing 2.8%.
In March, import and export containers totaled 817,000 TEUs, improving 6.2% year on year. In breakdown, imports accounted for 408,000 TEUs, going up 6.5%, and exports, the balance of 409,000 TEUs, up 6%. Meanwhile, transshipment (T/S) containers amounted to 739,000 TEUs, growing 3.6% on year.
