The Port of Osaka handled 181,197 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in July, down 3.2% year on year, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the Osaka Ports and Harbors Bureau. Exports accounted for 85,276 TEUs, down 0.4%, and imports, 95,921 TEUs, down 5.6%.
Loaded containers comprises 34,878 TEUs of exports, up 3.7%, and 91,126 TEUs of imports, down 6.7%, for a total of 126,004 TEUs, down 4.1%. Empty containers added up to 55,193 TEUs in total, down 1.1%.
In the first seven months (January–July), foreign-trade containers to and from Osaka amounted to 1.23 million TEUs, up 2.1%, consisting of 566,535 TEUs of exports, up 2.3%, and 667,291 TEUs of imports, up 1.9%. As for loaded containers, 237,221 TEUs were exported, up 6.5%, and 628,342 TEUs were imported, down 1.3%, for a total of 865,563 TEUs, up 0.7%. Empties totaled 368,263 TEUs, up 5.5%.
