Japan exported ¥897.7 billion (US$5.7 billion) worth of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and foods in the first half (January–June), up 10.9% year on year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). In 2025, exports of such products and foods amounted to ¥809.7 billion in the first half and reached an all-time high of ¥1.7 trillion in the full year.
Exports increased year on year to all major destinations, many of which were new January–June records. Those to South Korea and Vietnam, in particular, surged more than 20%.
By individual commodity, beef, apples, rise, green tea, sauces and mixed seasonings, yellowtail, and many others hit new first-half records. Increases were particularly high in green tea, 83.5%, and yellowtail, 69%.
