The Port of Yokkaichi in central Japan exported and imported a total of 12,623 TEUs of loaded and empty containers in April, down 6.7% year on year, according to preliminary statistics unveiled by the Yokkaichi Port Authority.

Exports accounted for 6,914 TEUs, down 8%, and imports, 5,709 TEUs, down 5.1%. As for full containers, 5,600 TEUs were exported, down 8.3%, and 5,220 TEUs were imported, down 10.8%, for a total of 10,820 TEUs, down 9.5%. Empty containers came to 1,803 TEUs in total, up 14.4%.

In the first four months (January-April), Yokkaichi handled 53,160 TEUs of exports and imports, up 3.2%, which comprised 28,585 TEUs of exports, up 2.1%, and 24,575 TEUs of imports, up 4.6%. Exports of full containers amounted to 23,409 TEUs, down 1.1%, and imports, 22,963 TEUs, up 2.6%, for a total of 46,372 TEUs, up 0.7%. Empties totaled 6,788 TEUs, up 24.7%.
