Regarding foreign-trade shipments in general, exports surged 12.2% to 54.83 million tons, thanks to improvements in, among other commodities, completed motor vehicles as well as auto parts and components.

Imports inflated 5.1% to 84.74 million tons, due to growth in energy demand, which led to increasing those of liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and other resources.

The combined volume of exports and imports was 103,957,000 tons, rising 7.8%.
