China's containerized transport market in the week to July 29 remained almost unchanged from the previous week. On July 29, the China Containerized Freight Index issued by Shanghai Shipping Exchange was 980.78 points, up 0.5% from the previous week and the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index also climbed 0.4% from a week before to 1013.06 points.

Thanks to the approaching conventional peak season over the Europe service, cargo volume from China to Europe for the week to July 29 remained almost the same as the previous week, keeping the slot utilization at about 90%. The freight index of the Europe service was 1097.19 points, up 0.6% week on week. In the Mediterranean trade the demand has recovered and the slot utilization topped 95%. The freight index on July 29 was 1243.52 points, up 0.7% on week.

On the trade to the U.S., the freight rates (include ocean freight and surcharges) for the voyages from Shanghai to base ports on the U.S. west coast and U.S. east coast were US$1,585/FEU and US$3,093/FEU, down 1.5% and 0.2% from the previous week, respectively.

On the trade to Japan, the cargo volume maintained unchanged as well as the freight rate. On July 29, the freight index of the Japan service was 783.41 points, almost the same as the previous week.
