Four Shandong Province ports in Chin and North Asia's hub port Busan, South Korea, concluded an agreement on strategic port operation on June 8, which would allow them to provide prompt and efficient transport services for cargoes and passengers. The Shandong Province ports involved are Qingdao, Rizhao, Weihai ad Yantai.

Under the strategic alliance, they will tie up for building environment-responsive economic districts and free trade zones in Shandong and Busan as well as a world-class port in North Asia, and developing container transport between China and South Korea, among others.

Container traffic between Shandong Province and Busan totaled 670,000 TEUs in 2010, of which transshipment cargo accounted for 60 percent.
