The 6.3 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday February 22 caused damage to Lyttelton Port of Christchurch infrastructure and facilities.

According to the port, an assessment of container assets is that wharves have held up well, but there are urgent minor works to be done. It aims to have limited operations available within 3-4 days. As of 18:00 pm, pick-up and delivery is currently suspended but expected to be operational within 24 hours, the port said.

The best estimate to get back to its previous operation service levels prior to the 6.3 quake is in 10 days, the port added.
