11.02.02Egypt Update

As of February 1 (local time), the Suez Canal is operating normally but container operations in major ports (Alexandria, Port Said, Damietta, and Sokhna) are closed and cargo operations have been disrupted. (Some shipping line sources say cargo operations at Port Said was partially resumed on Wednesday, but this information has not been confirmed yet). Some shipping lines are set to skip Egyptian ports and discharge containers at alternative ports. Therefore, there are possible delays in the delivery of Egypt-bound or transshipped cargoes from both east and west bounds.

Cairo port is open but primarily for the evacuation of tourists and foreign residents. Airfreight including express shipments are suffering delays across the country.

Internet and mobile phone connections have been shut down under government orders.
