The government of Saudi Arabia has placed a requirement to use pallets for import shipments bound for Jeddah and Dammam.

If cargoes destined to the ports are not palletized, fines of SAR300 per TEU and SAR700 per FEU will be levied.

On Feb. 25, 2009, the Saudi Arabian Customs implemented a similar regulation for palletizing all full-containerload (FCL) and less-than container load (LCL) cargoes arriving at Riyadh Dry Port.

The regulation has been upgraded to cover those transporting to Jeddah and Dammam.
