The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has released their 2010 information regarding the high-risk period (June through September) for the AGM (Asian Gypsy Moth).

The high-risk period encompasses the time when vessels would have called certain Chinese, Korean, Russian or Japanese ports the previous year and then arrive in the U.S.

The regulatory agencies require commercial vessels that have visited the above-listed ports during high-risk periods to have a certification of freedom from AGM if they visit U.S. and Canadian ports.

Vessels that comply with this program are not subject to any additional inspection.

Vessels that arrive without proper certification are subject to offshore inspections, which could result in transit delays.
