Transport workers strike in South Africa did not end as expected as the majority of the South African Transport and Allied Workers' Union (SATAWU) members stood against ratification of the 11 percent wage increase offer made by their employer and the nation's largest transport company Transnet.

Satawu's fellow union, the United Transport and Allied Trade Union (UTATU), which represents 45 percent of Transnet employees, accepted the Transnet offer last weekend and were back to work on Monday.
