Container throughput at South Korean ports showed a strong rebound achieving a double-digit increase of 18.7 percent in December 2009. Total volume for December stood at 1.549 million TEUs.
Busan Port handed 1.108 million TEUs in December, up 11.5 percent from the same month in 2008, accounting for 71 percent of the total.
Incheon and Kwangyang also made a strong growth of 45.9 percent and 42.1 percent, respectively.
For the entire year, box traffic at South Korean ports was 16.284 million TEUs, down 9.2% from a year before.
