The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) stood at 1,758 points, Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) announced on Monday. The composite index decreased 0.51% from a week earlier, a week-on-week decline for the third consecutive term, as spot rates for container exports from Busan fell on most trade lanes.
On the main lanes, the individual KCCIs went down 0.46% to 2,405 points to the U.S. West Coast, down 0.46% to 3,437 points to the U.S. East Coast, down 0.89% to 2,215 points to Europe but up 1.14% to 3,019 points to the Mediterranean.
The KCCIs slid across the board on the non-main lanes, going down 0,72% to 2,206 points to the Middle East, down 0.63% to 1,747 points to Australia, 2.22% to 1,895 points to the east coast of Latin America, down 1.24% to 1,837 points to the west coast of Latin America, down 1.64% to 2,875 points to Southern Africa and down 1.07% to 3,134 points to West Africa.
In the intra-Asia waters, the KCCIs picked up 2.17% to 47 points to China but waned 1.57% to 250 points to Japan and 0.09% to 1,148 points to Southeast Asia.
KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movements and other factors on the 13 trades.
