The general account for the city of Yokohama’s Port and Harbor Bureau amounts to ¥15.81 billion (US$102.4 million), according to a fiscal 2025 (April 2025-March 2026) budget draft outlined recently. The sum would decrease 11.3%, or ¥2.01 billion (US$13.01 million) from the previous fiscal year, mainly due to declines in costs for the national project of redeveloping the Port of Yokohama’s Honmoku Pier D5 Container Terminal and the development of a boarding bridge at Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal.

For port and harbor development, ¥35.86 billion (US$232.2 million) is earmarked, which increases 9.8%, or ¥3.21 billion (US$20.81 million), owing to increases in expenses for sites for the redevelopment of Yamashita Pier.

For reclamation projects, ¥23.05 billion (US$149.22 million) is booked, up 43.1%, or ¥6.94 billion (US$44.91 million), as growth is projected in costs for corporate bond redemption.

To develop an internationally competitive port, the bureau has allocated ¥18.21 billion (US$117.82 million) for the construction of a New Honmoku Pier (¥1.88 billion in fiscal 2024) and ¥10 million (US$65,000) for designing an access route to the new pier, which will be a new project in fiscal 2025. The former is part of the budget for port and harbor development, and the latter, part of the general account.

To redevelop container terminals at Minami Honmoku Pier and other projects, the bureau intends to spend ¥423.52 million (US$2.8 million) (¥407 million in fiscal 2024). TO redevelop and enhance Honmoku Pier (e.g., the redevelopment of D5 Container Terminal), ¥10.67 billion (US$69.1 million) is booked.
