The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) quoted 3,013 points on Monday, Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) reported on the same day. Freight rates for container exports from the South Korean port of Busan decreased to the U.S. and on some of the non-main lanes, decreasing the index 2.46% from a week earlier.

On the main lanes from Busan, the individual KCCIs fell 10.98% to 3,898 points to the U.S. West Coast and 3.57% to 5,073 points to the U.S. East Coast. To Europe and the Mediterranean, on the other hand, the indices improved 6.33% to 4,471 points and 2.24% to 4,617 points, respectively.

On the non-main lanes, the KCCIs picked up 0.66% to 2,587 points to the Middle East and 0.56% to 4,683 points to West Africa. In contrast, the indices waned 1.31% to 4,452 points to Australia, 2.32% to 6,021 points to the east coast of Latin America, 1.45% to 3,807 points to the west coast of Latin America and 3.73% to 5,297 points to Southern Africa.

In the intra-Asia waters, the KCCIs grew 1.35% to 1,200 points to Southeast Asia and levelled off at 49 points to China and 241 points to Japan.

KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movement and other factors on the 13 trades.
