Japan exported 145,401 secondhand passenger cars, cargo freighters, busses and EVs in October, which increased 4.1% from the corresponding month of 2023 for the first year-on-year growth in two months, according to figures compiled by the International Auto Trade Association (iATA) from trade statistics provided by the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The annual number is now projected to exceed 150,000 after hitting a new yearly record in 2023.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the leading destination, to which 22,967 units were exported. The average price on a free-on-board (FOB) basis was ?510,000 (US$3,362), a rise of some ?110,000 (US$725) from the previous month. Ranked second was Russia, to which 18,252 units were exported, up 45%, with the average FOB price being ?1.09 million (US$7,185). The third and fourth destinations were Mongolia and Chile, to which 9,883 units and 7,844 units were exported, respectively.
