The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan’s Kanto Regional Development Bureau will operate the Container Fast Pass (CONPAS) on a trial basis at the Port of Yokohama’s Honmoku Pier later this month.

To enhance Keihin Port’s global competitiveness, the bureau is introducing CONPAS, a port information developed and run by the MLIT’s Port and Harbor Bureau, aiming to eliminate traffic congestion at container terminal gates and reduce time for container trucks and trailers to stay in container terminals.

The bureau will run CONPAS at Honmoku Pier’s BC1, BC2, D1 and D4 berths on weekdays from Oct. 16 through Oct. 29 to evenly distribute truck and trailer arrivals times by encouraging them to make bookings in advance. At BC2 Berth, the bureau will strive to improve the efficiency of processing incoming and outgoing containers with the PS Card. At BC4 Berth, the bureau will try to streamline container yard cargo work by handling containers in advance with booking information.

The programs will all be joined by companies affiliated with the Kanagawa Trucking Association.
