Following the updated news of additional industrial action extending into November, DP World has called on the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU)’s Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) to return to the bargaining table.

Discussions between the parties were scheduled to take place on Oct. 17-19; however,  those meetings did not eventuate with the union declaring an escalation of action.
DP World has suggested that as a result of protected industrial action, the timeline to offload a ship has now been extended to seven-eight days in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle terminals, up significantly from a usual two days.

The MUA has given notice of industrial action at DP World terminals, starting on Oct. 6, in connection with ongoing negotiations on a new enterprise bargaining agreement. The industrial action includes work bans and work stoppages (some for a full 24 hours) at DP World’s terminals in Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle and Brisbane.
