CMA CGM has delivered the first shipment of Peruvian grapes to Japan via its Asia Central South America 1 (ACSA1) service.

The milestone shipment was received at the CMA CGM-operated Honmoku D4 terminal in Yokohama. Arriving onboard the 15,000-TEU CMA CGM LIBERTY, one of three e-methane ready LNG-powered vessels deployed on the weekly service, Peruvian grapes now joins the list of fresh fruits that the Asia-Latin America service has consistently delivered to the Yokohama port. The shipment starts the wave of 26 Peruvian grape varieties that the Andean nation will export to Japan and enjoys duty-free access to the Japanese market under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The ACSA1 service is operated in a port-of-call rotation of Shekou, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, Buenaventura, Callao, Posorja, Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo, Yokohama, Busan and Shekou.

Hideki Uchida, President of CMA CGM Japan, said,

“The CMA CGM group is thrilled to deliver this important and unprecedented cargo of Peruvian grapes to the Japanese market,” said CMA CGM Japan President Hideki Uchida. “It marks the first of many more grape shipments from Peru to Japan ahead.” “Our ACSA1 service is a trusted shipping service that connects the Asia-Latin America trade corridor,” he continued.  “We are committed in ensuring it stays a reliable shipping option of fresh fruit imports to Japan from Latin America.”
