The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) has released its latest guidance on the implementation of the new European Union (EU) customs pre-arrival security and safety ICS2 Release 2 program requirements, which is coming into force on March 1 for airfreight.

The guidance gives answers to a variety of questions that freight forwarders might have, such as what and when they can file, what an economic operators registration and identification (EORI) number is and why they need it soon, which Unicode character sets are not accepted, what the downside of leaving data filing to airlines is and how do they include multiple Harmonized System (HS) codes on single Airway Bills (AWBs) in the Pre-Loading Advanced Cargo Information (PLACI).
