The Consortium for Improving the Efficiency and Expansion of Trade Information Linkage (Trade Consortium) had been joined by 160 members by Thursday.

The Trade Consortium was initially established in August 2017 by NTT Data, which then became its secretariat, with 18 trade-related companies as initial members. In April 2021, TradeWaltz took over the post from NTT Data and kicked off a new Trade Consortium.

In the Trade Consortium, in addition to plenary sessions to report on TradeWaltz' business and the status of trade digitalization in and out of Japan, working groups of volunteer members are active. From these working group activities, a study group with the Ministry of Justice for the legal revision of electronic bills of lading (eB/Ls), an SAP collaboration project and a study of shipping company platforms collaboration have begun.

The new Trade Consortium, which began with 40 companies, started a public call for membership on May 21, 2021. A total of 120 companies have since joined the consortium, including shippers, manufacturers, financial service providers, logistics companies and IT vendors, to make the total number 161.
