A total of 13,003 ships crossed the Panama Canal in fiscal 2022 (October 2021-September 2022), up 3.8% from the previous fiscal year. Those passing through the Neo-Panamax locks amounted to 3,619, accounting for 27.8%, and the Panamax locks, 9,384, 72.2%. The total volume of shipments moved was 291.7 million tons, up 1.5%.

In July-September, the canal was crossed by 3,373 ships, up 5.2% from a year earlier, which including 3,163 commercial ships, up 3.8%. Cargo carried on the canal weighed 73.3 million tons, up 7.7%.
