Container trade between South Korea and China was robust in January. The total volume of containerized shipments moved between the countries amounted to 319,754 TEUs, which surged 11.76% from the same month of 2021, according to statistics compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). Direct exports and imports accounted for 300,301 TEUs in total, up 11.69%, while feeder shipments were even more brisk, surging 12.85% to 19,453 TEUs.

Outbound containers from South Korea to China totaled 111,328 TEUs, up 8.69%. Those carried directly on the route came to 103,386 TEUs, up 8.4%, and those moved in feeder services, 7,942 TEUs, up 12.52%.

Meanwhile, imports from China to South Korea jumped 13.48% to 208,426 TEUs. They consisted of 196,915 TEUs of direct shipments, up 13.5%, and 11,511 TEUs of feeder containers, up 13.07%.
