Container throughput at Shanghai Port set a new record of 47 million TEUs in 2021, retaining the title of the world’s No. 1 container port for the twelfth year in a row. Last year, the port handled 43.5 million TEUs despite the Covid-19 outbreak.
Volume for international transit containers at the port of Shanghai exceeded 6 million TEUs for the first time in 2021, representing an increase of 13.4 percent year on year, according to statistics by the Shanghai International Port Group.
