Oceangoing container volumes handled in Japan's six busiest container ports totaled 1,206,961 TEUs in March, up 4.4% over the same month last year, representing an increase for two consecutive months, according to the preliminary figures unveiled by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Containers for export spiked 8.2% from the same month in 2020 to 598,389 TEUs while those for import inched up by 0.9% to 608,572 TEUs.
